Low self-esteem discourages people from accepting challenges. It slowly starts affecting his activities till the person loses confidence to perform even routine tasks. It makes him imbalanced and drives him to take extreme steps. Low self-esteem does not come by birth. It is a complicated product of childhood experiences wrong decisions, humiliations, failures; hardships one had to undergo and more importantly one’s attitude.
At workplace, it is influenced by a number of factors-if the person likes his job, how much he is liked by others, his social status and achievements. In fact self-esteem and all these factors are interrelated and affect one another. And fortunately, one can alter the way one perceives these factors to improve self-esteem. Here are a few steps to do it.
Keeping a watch on how you think is the first process. Keep telling good things about yourself. Recollect your achievements. Tell yourself that you can achieve anything you want. Visualize and experience success. Take good care of your physical, emotional and mental health. Share your sorrows and happiness with people close to you. Spend time in your favorite activities. Take out more time for yourself, relax and listen to yourself. Hone your talents. This will boost your confidence Start writing a personal diary. It helps you to know yourself better, organize tasks, set goals, monitor progress and lead a disciplined life. Make it attractive by using color pens and decorating pages on the days you achieved something. You will eventually fall in love with yourself.
